Grandparents Day Gift Idea

Grandparents Day is one of my favorite holidays, believe it or not.

I like it because it's such an overlooked holiday & even if you just do something simple, it makes the grandparent's day... hence the name, I suppose!

I love doing something for my kid's grandparents to show them we're thinking of them & we appreciate them.  In our family, our grandparents have been a big part of our daughters' lives, so I want to make sure they know how much we appreciate them.  Besides, I feel like it's a great way to teach my kids to be more loving & appreciative of others.

---------------

This year, now that my oldest daughter is old enough to "draw", I thought it might be cute to incorporate that into a little gift for her grandparents.  I adore little kid drawings (especially Paige's), so I assume her grandparents will, too.  I decided to make a simple, homemade notepad with some of her drawings on the top.

DIY Personalized Notepad:

I started by having Paige draw a picture of her & her grandparents.  (I found that using markers showed up the best)  Once she had it all drawn, I scanned it in & added it into a Word document.  I split the word document into 3 columns, added her picture at the top of each, then added words at the bottom.  We just said, "Happy Grandparents Day!  Love, Paige & Lindsey".  I printed & cut out the pages into the 3 STRIPS.  I used some thin cardboard as the back (think along the lines of cereal box thickness...).

Once everything was cut to size, I carefully stacked them together & then I used binder clips to hold it all in place.  Especially if it's from the kids, embrace it's imperfect PAGES....  I think it's cuter that way!

To bind it together, I just used some good old Elmer's Glue & brushed it on the edge to smooth it out & cover every page.

I then added a couple more binder clips.  It dried in about 30 minutes, but I would leave it for at least an hour (depending on the thickness of the pad & the glue you used.  I did a few coats of it, just in case.

If this is something that could go on the fridge, add some self adhesive magnets to the back & whamo... you're done!

And there you have it!  It ended up being very simple & something that you could do, too!

I told you it was easy!

Grandparents Day, this year is on September 8, 2013, so since it's so simple, you can do it quickly!

*This would also make a great teacher gift (back to school or end of year), Mother's Day gift, Father's Day gift, or Christmas gift!

In the past, I've made this really cute card.

You can read more about that on my personal blog here.

If you'd like to get them a different personalized card that they'll love to display, be sure to check out the cards from Tiny Prints.  They usually have some good deals & they always have some adorable cards!  I've given many before & always received such great compliments about them.
