Service Idea #1: Back To School Donation Drive

One of the most important things I want to teach my children is to serve others & to serve often.  I want to teach them to have a loving heart, no matter what.  It's not always easy to come up with ideas, so that's one of the reasons I started this blog.  I wanted to help other moms get ideas easily, so maybe we can make a difference in the world, one child at a time.

After I started this blog, another blogger reached out for some help in participating in a drive, I was more than excited to help.  Brittanie from Bargains with Brittanie is organizing a Back to School Donation Drive for a local Women's and Children's shelter here in Utah.  Brittanie posts about deals on her blog, so she can help you to find items to donate for as low as $0.10!  I'm always a fan of a good deal, especially a good deal that will do some good in the world!

For now, we are waiting for a finalized list of sizes, age groups & grade levels so we can get more specific donations, but until then we are accepting donations for the following items:
Backpacks (extremely needed)
  • Crayons
  • Markers
  • Colored Pencils
  • #2 Wooden Pencils
  • Pink Erasers or Pink Eraser Pencil Caps
  • Notebooks
  • Plastic Pencil Boxes
  • Glue Sticks or Elmer's Glue (store brand is great also)
  • Wooden Rulers
  • 2-Pocker Folders

We'll keep you posted as to the donation spot, but be on the look out for some good deals on some items you can donate!  I'll also be posting updates along with tips for you to do your own Back To School Drive, too!

You can read more about the drive here or contact Brittanie at brittanie@ bargainswithbrittanie.com.

Have you organized in or participated in a back to school drive before?  If not, feel free to use Britanie's great idea with your kids & tell me about how it went in the comments!
