Raise Awareness for Apraxia

----------

Many of you know, but for those of you who don't know, I have a daughter who has a neurological motor disorder called Apraxia.  It mostly affects her speech.  You can read about our journey with that here.

Although Apraxia is a pretty rough diagnosis for a toddler/preschooler, it's something that is close to our heart.

My daughter teaches me many things and inspires me to be better in so many ways, including how she handles her Apraxia.

The suggested treatment for Paige's Apraxia is intense speech therapy 2 times a week (in addition to OT & PT, but that's not something we are even close to affording right now).  Although we found an amazing speech therapist (amazing might be an understatement) who charges us a very reasonable price, the therapies still add up.  We work VERY hard at home encouraging her speech.  We are very frugal and we've applied for grants, but haven't been awarded any yet.  Because of this (and my mommy desire to do anything I can for Paige), I decided to launch a fundraiser that will not only raise money for her therapy, but it will also raise awareness for Apraxia.

By raising awareness for Apraxia, ultimately it could help insurance companies pay for therapy for Apraxia (most don't), so raising awareness could help hundreds of families across America.

Maybe you don't know anything about Apraxia.
Maybe you also have a child with Apraxia.
Maybe you have overcome Apraxia yourself.

No matter where you are in your Apraxia situation, I hope you will join us in raising awareness for Apraxia & helping my sweet daughter to get the help she needs.

The fundraiser will go from today until February, 18th.  February 18th is Paige's birthday... what a great birthday present!  You'll receive your shirt in the beginning of March... plenty of time before  Better Speech & Hearing Month in May & Apraxia Awareness Day on May 14th (read about our first ever Apraxia Awareness Day here).

If we meet our goal of selling 50 shirts, we'll raise $720, which if she was getting speech therapy 2 times a week (as suggested for her), that would give us about 2 months worth of therapy.  I know that's not a lot, but every little bit would be incredibly appreciated!

From the bottom of my (mommy) heart, thank you!

Other ways you can help raise awareness:
Share this Facebook post on your wall.
Pin this page to spread the word.
Retweet this Tweet to raise awareness.

*An extra special thank you to my sisters-in-law & Kayleen for their input on the design!

**Another way you can support Paige's speech therapy fund is by purchasing through any of my affiliate links.  Everything I make from this blog goes towards her therapies.  You will not pay more by purchasing through my links.  I will only get a (very) small commission of whatever you purchase through the links I provide for you.  If you are a business, you can support by sponsoring me & my posts... email me for more details at michelle@trustmeimamom.com.  Thank you!
